Adult Coloring Book Creator Patricia Hawkenson Coming to River Pines on August 23
Posted 8/3/2017
We are excited to welcome Patricia Hawkenson to River Pines, on August 23 at 2:30 p.m. Hawkenson is the creator of a new adult coloring book called “Color Eau Claire.” The book features 40 different images from around Eau Claire, including parks, schools and businesses.
Hawkenson’s artistic style made it easy to create this type of book because her style is very linear, and there are lot of black lines in the work that she does. “The feedback has just been positive – just wonderful,” she said. Coloring books like hers have shown to help adults relax and cope with stress. “Coloring helps us to quiet our minds and get into our bodies a little more and what happens in the brain is that the judgmental or critical part of our brain quiets down and we become more free flowing and playful,” said Mayo Clinic Health System art therapist and grief counselor, Trisha Lundin. The number of adults picking up the colors is increasing, with over 14 million coloring books sold online last year.
To learn more about Hawkenson and her book, “Color Eau Claire,” please join us at River Pines on August 23 at 2:30 p.m. All are welcome!
