Seniors Knit Blankets for People in Need

Posted 7/6/2015

Seniors at Grace Willowbrook Assisted Living have been using their knitting skills to make sure Eau Claire residents have blankets to ward off the chill. The project is in cooperation with “Operation Blanket Eau Claire.”

The seniors are making fleece blankets and crocheting afghans through the summer to donate to the project in October.

Peg Husby, Grace Willowbrook Administrator, says,“Residents of Grace Willowbrook have supported their communities all their lives through volunteering. Helping others comes naturally to our group!”

The blankets will be distributed on ‘Make A Difference Day’ and will be given to local non-profit agencies that help residents in Eau Claire who find themselves in need.

“Even when we find ourselves needing help from others such as in assisted living communities, it is still part of our human nature to express our compassion and care for others-this project is a perfect fit for us!

We never out grow the need to have a genuine purpose in life, giving back is important whether you are 5 or 95”, Husby said.

Grace Lutheran Foundation has been helping our friends and neighbors in communities all over the Chippewa Valley since 1966. The non-profit organization specializes in rehabilitation, assisted living, skilled nursing, school-age child care, independent living and adult day services.
